Annual Ski Trip 2015 – Vail, CO

Its been too long since my last video post and I knew lots of you have been asking about them! This year for my husband’s birthday we went to Vail, CO. I have to say despite being to Andorra and skiing in Michigan several times, Vail was by far the best ski trip ever! I’m going a little in depth in my review because I really can’t get over how nice the local people were and how amazing the city is!

Where to eat:

Vendetta’s Pizza : Not only do they always have beer specials once the slopes are closed its only one of the only places thats open for late night munchies. 🙂 2 pies to definitely try out are W.V.A and Popeye’s Passion.

Yellowbelly Chicken: This places is by far one of the best fried chicken places I’ve eaten at. Owners wanted to create a restaurant where the chef’s went to eat after work and boy have they went above and beyond. Everything is made from scratch and organic! Don’t miss out on the smashed potato fries, citrus quinoa salad, brussel sprout slaw and of course the fried chicken!

Where to pick up your skis/boards:

Located in Lionshead area of Vail, Vail Ski Base, has great pricing, convenient location and most of all the nicest people that work there! Vail Ski Base is located right next to Eagle Bahn Gondala that leads to all levels of terrain.

Where to go party:

Lets face it after a hard day of skiing most of us just want to relax and have a couple drinks. If planning a trip to Vail, definitely try and go when Decimo is occuring. Its a music festival that only happens five times a year and its the coolest party I’ve ever been to. Individuals take Gondola One all the way up to Mid-Vail with breath taking views of the Rocky Mountains at night! We partied with DJ Baauer but I know some really well known DJ’s frequent the Vail area. One to not be missed!!

Red Lion Pub is one of the better bars on Bridge St. with live music and great bar specials. Bridge St is where most of the nightlife is with 4-5 bars and late night eateries.

Where to Ski/Board

Vail’s motto is “Like nothing on Earth” I can’t stress enough how surreal the views are and how powdery perfect the terrain is. Although we had one day with slightly icier conditions its pretty much unheard of in the Vail area. The Ski schools have the most patient instructors that know the terrain the best. The runs are extremely long! Definitely get to the slopes early, the ski lifts opens at 8AM and closes at 3:30 PM. Despite being extremely large Vail is very accesible with a bus route that will take you anywhere from West Vail, Cascade Village, Lionshead (where I stayed), Mid – Vail all the way to East Vail. One thing I definitely advise you to do is buy your lift tickets online! You can save about $33 off the window price and yes its steep, about $145 a day so definitely buy online!
